@smu1 No, Android 4.0 won’t be supported any longer. Android 4.1 was released 5 years ago and there should be a custom ROM for almost every device which doesn’t already have it. Did you have a look for your device?
Tine20 address book sync doesn't work, but calendar + notes work

When syncing with Tine20, calenders and tasks work fine, but addressbook sync fails.
Address book sync works fine with the carddav sync app from Marten Gajda.
Tine20 is easy to setup for testing. Or I can set up a test account on my server if a dev is interested.

at.bitfire.vcard4android.ContactsStorageException: Couldn’t get address book URL
Your problems are not related to client/server communication, but it’s a client problem only. DAVdroid is not allowed or not able to read the address book URL from the address book sync state.
Was there an Android update recently? Is DAVdroid blocked by privacy apps?

That was a simple user error. I had indeed forgot that privacy settings were on by default. This is a bit embarrassing.
