@rfc2822 Thank you very much for the fix. I was going to create an ownCloud issue, but I see you’ve already done so. I’ll copy some of the information from this issue into that so the OC developers can get the information in their own bug report.
Hide from launcher
This app provide a sync account, so for the 99.99% of its lifetime, an icon in the launcher it’s pretty aimless
In the future could you think about adding an option in the app to allow people hiding the app from the launcher?
Thank you for this usefull app
The launcher icon is required for some stores (for instance, Samsung Store). Also, launcher icon is needed because you can manage your accounts and do additional settings from there.
People generally don’t read instructions and will immediately report issues and vote down DAVdroid when they install it and don’t find a launcher icon (yes, that actually happened).
In the beginning, I didn’t like the launcher icon, too, but it turned out to be necessary.
Sorry, but I agree!
But i was only suggesting you to add an option in the app to hide it (one day, as enhancement). I saw some apps somewhere that do it!
Thanks in advance
Ah ok. Didn’t even know that this is possible… will have a look some time.
+1, would be really handy.
One example of such a feature is here https://github.com/GSamLabs/GSamBatteryMonitor-RootCompanion
We have decided to behave like a “normal” app and not to implement this function so that people can see whether DAVdroid is installed on their device easily.
You could make a switch that hides the icon from the launcher.
Google its “Android Keyboard” app is doing the same thing.
I second this. The ability to hide an app’s icon is already found in apps such as Google’s keyboard. Getting rid of its icon would save precious screen real estate in my launcher.
