Calendars have to be selected in the setup window of DAVdroid, see FAQ “How can I change the URL/user name/password of my DAV resource or add a new calendar?”.
Support google calendar sync
-
Hej,
i saw the closed issue https://github.com/rfc2822/davdroid/issues/122 which is about davdroid not syncing a google calendar.
Like @jeekajoo, i’m unfortunatly forced to use google calendar for my work. I’m using davdroid for a while and like it very much, but google cal. lacking support is a real showstopper for me.
I also understand that the problem is on googles side (not rfc complinat), but i’d like to still have a workaround for this. Even when the davdroid devs don’t like to code that workaround, i’d like to have this feature request open if anyone else likes to work on this.Thx, varac

I’d also like Google calendar support
-
FYI, I initially requested this as #122 but have since then settled with using CaldavSyncAdapater (sic!) instead (version 1.8) for my Google accounts. Works fine for me, but would also love for DAVDroid to support it.
-
I suppose the numbers of people who want to use a calendar on Google but don’t want to use GApps is fairly limited. If you are one of those people (like if your workplace makes you use Google), it sucks that there’s no DAVDroid support, but probably you are in low numbers.

@jas4711 Did you know any alternative to Carddav (not caldav)?
-
There is http://dmfs.org/carddav/ but I haven’t used it. Supposedly aCal – https://gitorious.org/acal – supports CardDAV but it isn’t a sync adapter, it is sync+GUI combined, and I didn’t like that approach (I used it for Google Calendars before I found this caldav adapter: https://f-droid.org/repository/browse/?fdid=org.gege.caldavsyncadapter
-
So CalDavSync Adapter supports OAuth?
-
I don’t know – but I’m using org.gege.caldavsyncadapter from fdroid against Google successfully. I’m always using application-specific passwords for Google, so maybe it is using just legacy authentication.
-
Btw, to avoid confusion, there appears to be TWO projects that are similarily named:
-
CalDav-Sync
org.dmfs.caldav.lib
http://dmfs.org/caldav/
Not open source? -
CalDAV Sync Adapter
org.gege.caldavsyncadapter
https://f-droid.org/repository/browse/?fdid=org.gege.caldavsyncadapter
https://github.com/gggard/AndroidCaldavSyncAdapater
The latter projects seems dead, though.
I thought the dmfs.org project was open source, but on closer examination, I can’t find source code. Sorry for mentioning it.

@jas4711 you speak about “application-specific password”, so it means you are able to use org.gege.caldavsyncadapter with “2-Step Verification” on you google account?
-
Unfortunately dmfs is not working with Google Contacts, tested it right now.
It seems aCal just sync contacts if they are in the same url than
calendars. Otherwise it show there is not data to sync.BTW, I’m actually looking for not having gapps running on my phone, that’s
why I’m looking for these carddav clients. I don’t mind having my contacts
at Google, but I mind what’s running on my phone.Jerônimo Fagundes da Silva

@jeekajoo yes that works fine for me. I rarely modify the calendar on my phone, though, so I mostly use it as a one-way calendar sync from google to my phone. But I believe it supports two-way sync. For CardDAV I wouldn’t know – I have my contacts on ownCloud and DAVDroid works great there.

+1 I was hoping I could stay away from proprietary but will now have to install lots of bloating Google apps just to sync calendar (for work) and contacts (Slim Roms has them all stripped out by default).
-
Any update about how to use davdroid syncronized with google calendar? Any other F-droid apps that works?

@emunicio Try aCalDAV fork by @ennswi: https://github.com/ennswi/AndroidCaldavSyncAdapater. It works even with two-factor authentication. For config, see this wiki page that is still relevant: https://github.com/gggard/AndroidCaldavSyncAdapater/wiki/Server-Compatibility-List
-
As far as I understand that app doesn’t check ssl certificates, which is very insecure and dangerous.

@jeekajoo thanks, now it is working! It was a problem with the server url. The info in https://github.com/gggard/AndroidCaldavSyncAdapater/wiki/Server-Compatibility-List definitely helped.
@untitaker In the app, the option for enable checking ssl certificates is enabled by default. Maybe was dangerous in previous versions, but now it seems they are cheked
