@akero Yes, I think that this belongs to the settings.
possibility to import/export accounts
-
Hi,
i am an independent entrepreneur, with many different email/calendar accounts for the various projects i work on. At the moment i have 8. I have 2 phones, a work phone and a personal phone, that both need to display all calendars. So it takes a lot of time to setup. I would be really helpful if Davx5 had an import/export function, that could be used to import/export all settings and accounts. Is such a thing in the planning/pipeline? If not, i’d hereby like to request it. It is quite common on apps like this, e.g. the Outlook CalDAV synchronizer also has this function.also suggested here in a larger set of suggestions https://forums.bitfire.at/topic/1987/some-basic-features-i-m-waiting-for-a-few-yeras

Would it also be an option to just activate the android backup functionality?
Right now DAVx5 denies data backups. It would then be possible to use adb backup, seedvault or even google backup.
With focus on security this could be tied to client side encryption of the backup.The change is quite trivial, but would be a nice new feature.
This is how Transportr did it: https://github.com/grote/Transportr/commit/4dc38f429f75909a088d8bd8a5b3b5ddd8030f71 -

Unfortunately not. Android backup wouldn’t backup the DAVx5 accounts, because they’re not stored in the DAVx5 app but in the system app responsible for accounts.
And without having the accounts backed up, the whole backup would be useless

i dont understand these comments, my Dav5x now allows import and export. Do i have a beta?

@rik234
I am using the open source version, might be that its missing that feature.@rfc2822
I do not have a device right now to test how other apps with accounts handle this.
However if there is no way to trigger the account backup and you have an import/export function already, then you could do that export automatically on account changes and include the exported file in the autobackup.
If the app then finds these files when no account is present (e.g. new device) you could import it automatically. Would achieve the same?! -

Which function do you mean? There is no import/export/backup function yet; at least not one that I know of

@rfc2822 sorry i am confusing 2 apps

@rfc2822
Then of course that import/export even when internal would be needed
