confused... vcf import?
Hi, I’m following this info: I have set up DAVx⁵, but existing contacts…
export your Android contacts from your local account (Contacts / Export to .vcf file) and import them into your DAVx⁵ account (Contacts / Import from .vcf file)
But, I can not see anywhere an ‘Import’ function?
What have I missed…?
Hi, you can use the Export/Import function of your Contacts app, not DAVx5.
@rfc2822 But having exported from my contacts app - how do I import into DavX5?
I don’t want to re-import the contacts back into Android Contacts - I want to get them into my DavX5 account.
@morgan You have to import it again with the Contacts app. Then, within the Contacts app, choose the DAVx5 account as destination. You can see it in the video: https://www.davx5.com/faq/existing-contacts-are-not-synced/ 1:50+
That’s sooooooo counter intuitive!!!
I think that needs to be flagged with a BIG RED flag.
But, now I see what you mean…
Does it now work?

@morgan To be honests, the purpose of DAVx5 is only to sync data which it does perfectly, not to add another function to export/import csv data which can be done by the stock contacts app.
For all users who have problems interpreting a textual description a dedicated video shows the steps to do the job. The only thing you need to do is to follow these steps
@j-ed Thanks - it wasn’t DavX5 I was screaming about but the logic of the Android Contacts set-up. I realise the droid contacts app is a consolidation of a whole lot of backends - so if you’re taking something out of one backend to put it in another backend, then it ends up going in and out the front end… (I’m not trying to be indecent, honest
Anyway, sorted. Thanks.
