"Couldn't parse iCalendar object" error message

  • Permanent error
Couldn’t even add this url again after erasing it from ICSx⁵
    Same error message every time

  • developer

    Hi,

Thanks for the report. Seems to happen for my webcal.fi calendars too, so I think there were some changes at the server… Do you know whether they have a forum or something like that?

  • @rfc2822 Doesn’t seem to be any existing forum…
    Only this email address
    info@webcal.fi
    found here:
    http://www.webcal.fi/en-US/help.php

  • @rfc2822 ICSx⁵ doesn’t appear in supported applications:
    http://www.webcal.fi/en-US/supported_applications.php

“If you use an application not on the list, please send feedback to info@webcal.fi on whether or not it works with WebCal.”

  • developer

@acu It was never listed there. They have linked it here: http://www.webcal.fi/en-US/mobile.php but with its old name. ICSdr*** must not be said anymore because it sounds like a well-known mobile operating system, so I’ll write them anyway.

I’ll have a look into why it doesn’t work at the moment.

  • @rfc2822 OK thanks… keep up the good work 👍

One can see the same error message on ICalendar validator: Parser error at line 54: Expected [VCALENDAR], read [VEVENT]

I don’t know yet what’s the exact problem is, but there are strange lines:

Maybe the BEGIN:VEVENT couldn’t be parsed because of the three lines before.

  • developer

I have sent a message to webcal.fi to ask whether these lines are intentional.

  • @rfc2822 looks like there’s something wrong with nginx layout…

  • Hi,

Today I tried again with same URL and everything is working properly, no more error message…
Does it work for you too?

  • developer

@acu Works here again, too. I’ll set this to solved.
