That’s normal behaviour. However, the crash bug on invalid host names should still not appear.
[Android 4.4, DAVx⁵ 2.5.4] UI fails on opening an existing account
On opening an existing account the UI automatically jumps to the debug information page. Leaving this page by back arrow, DAVx5 terminates. But time driven synchronisation works properly. The issue occurs independent from connectivity; even without. To me it seems to be an UI issue probably new to version 2.5.4.
Steps to reproduce:
- Start DAVx5
- Tick an existing account (caldav or carddav)
- Debug info opens automatically
Find further details below resp. in the attached debug file.
Apart from this: Excellent piece of software, thanks a lot!
Device: samsung GT-I9195 (serranolte)
Android: 4.4.2 (KOT49H.I9195XXUCOA2)
Thanks for the report. I can reproduce the problem here with Android 4.4, but not with Android 8. Seems like updating the Android material components to the latest alpha version has worked around one problem and caused a new one.
IT as usual Unfortunately, I don’t know what to do know. I think it’s the best to use DAVx⁵ < 2.5.4 for devices which old Android versions and hope that the next material-components will fix the new problem.
@rfc2822 Thank you for the quick analysis and the suggested workaround.
For the time being, I intend to stay with version 2.5.4 as synchronisation works (time driven and manually in settings > accounts) and downgrading to a previous version fails with “unknown error” … hoping to see soon a new version including the fix.
@maction Downgrading won’t work; you could uninstall it and install and set 2.5.3 up again. But we’ll release a new version soon.
But we’ll release a new version soon.
New version 220.127.116.11 works on my Android 4.4 again as expected.
Thanks for quick and excellent support.
@maction Thanks for the confirmation!
