Calendar event times shifted.
-
I have my own server with email/webDAV. Everything is fine in webmail, so I assume that the event times are correct on the server.
I use calDAV to sync events on my computer (MacOS Calendar), and it works fine there.
I use DAVdroid to sync the calendar on my Android 5.1 device. Events appear shifted by one hour. My device time zone is set correctly.

Hello,
Please provide steps to reproduce, Web server and CalDAV/CardDAV server logs taken while the problem occurs, DAVdroid debug info and verbose DAVdroid logs etc as described in [READ BEFORE POSTING] What’s required to diagnose a problem.
-
@andrew Thanks for your report. Please provide steps to reproduce (including name and version of server software or service name), DAVdroid debug info and verbose DAVdroid logs etc as described in [READ BEFORE POSTING] What’s required to diagnose a problem. We can’t help you without this information.
-
steps to reproduce:
- create a new event on android. wait for sync
- modify event on another device. sync.
- event on android device is now shifted
Server:
Apache Version 2.4.29
exim (exim-4.89.1-2.cp1162.x86_64)Davdroid: newest

@executive Doesn’t happen here. Which event shall I create? Which date, time, timezone, description? Which other device? To which details shall I change it?
Could you provide a test account for your server?
Please understand that I really need to be able to reproduce the problem and that your steps work for all our test cases and most users. We need exact steps to reproduce the problem so that we can have a look.

@executive @andrew I have sent an APK for testing over email. Can you try whether this version works?
-
@rfc2822 I’ll do my best. Is it the same as the version 1.11 that was released today?
-
@executive No, it contains a separate fix.
-
@executive Which time zone are you using?
-
Maybe related to https://bugs.horde.org/ticket/13866?
-
My device is set to use automatic date, time, and timezone from network. In grey it shows GMT-08:00 Pacific Daylight Time (which is confusing because we are actually 7h behind GMT right now, but time shown is correct)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pacific_Time_Zone#Daylight_timeI think the appearance of this problem may have coincided with DST.

@rfc2822 said in Calendar event times shifted.:
Maybe related to https://bugs.horde.org/ticket/13866?
It’s a little bit over my head. Is that a bug with Horde, or with CalDAV? I can confirm the shift happens even I don’t open Horde Webmail.
-
Calendar app settings shows correct time offset: “Pacific Daylight Time GMT-7”
-
Thanks for the additional information.
As far as I understand it, it’s a Horde problem (the same as https://forums.bitfire.at/topic/1725/events-shifted-1-hour-with-cpanel-and-hong-kong-time and https://bugs.horde.org/ticket/13866).
Please contact Horde support for more information.
I can confirm the shift happens even I don’t open Horde Webmail.
Horde is not only a Webmail interface, but also the CalDAV backend in this case.

The last reply to the bug is 3 years ago, and the priority is set to “low”. What a P.O.S.
Does the APK you sent contain a work around for this?
-
@executive No, this is a server problem and not within DAVdroid’s responsibility.

@executive No, this is a server problem and not within DAVdroid’s responsibility.
@rfc2822 Of course it’s not. But if the problem is with my server software, then how did your APK fix the problem (or seems to, so far).
-
@executive I’m happy the problem seems to be gone, but I’m still curious what you did. Will this fix be reverted if I update DAVdroid when a new version comes out?
-
@executive No, the solution is not a good one and will not be merged into DAVdroid in this way. We’re still investigating those timezone problems, especially https://github.com/ical4j/ical4j/issues/229

OK. Your efforts are appreciated. Thanks.
